Business School Welcomes Fifth Intake

Orientation 09, The Classic Signature Hunt

The Business School has come to its fourth year this year with new students coming in to fill the vacancies left by us. After our huge graduation day a couple of months back, I thought I would never see the new faces of students enrolling this year. Fortunately, I was assigned to cover for the school's yearly orientation programme. As a fresh graduate, I had a slightly awkward feeling heading back there and felt like a stranger to them (though the current seniors still do recognize me, but I guess that's probably the last).

With the fifth intake coming in, its no surprise that familiarization and ice-breaking sessions were held on their first week. It's been a tradition for generations (in Business School years). A time to actually encourage them to open up and build the foundation of their confidence, while having a great time through it. Sure made me recall those sweet moments I've had with my fellow friends on our very first week some four years ago.

Looks like I'll be reporting on the school's activities that'll be going on for the next few months and on. It's good to be back, though no longer as the student I used to be, but as a fresh graduate with his new-found career. And I'd like to say, welcome juniors!

Moment of Appreciation

I got to see my seniors going through their graduation ceremony over the years and it has been really exciting to witness the joy in their faces during their big day. And now, it has finally come to us. The years as Students of The Business School are over, it is a time to reward ourselves for our achievements and years of dedication in the college. To think that in the early days I wanted to graduate so badly, and now I still couldn't realize the fact that the very day is finally here! 3 years sure felt short whenever I think about it.

But most importantly, aside from all the hugs and apologies each of us will go through later after the convocation wraps up, I shouldn't forget to give out appreciative thanks to those that matters to me as well. In light of this joyous event, I would like to take this opportunity to thank each and everyone who have given us all the support throughout our years in The Business & Finance / Secretarial course at The Business School, from the beginning of our enrollment in 2005 up to the end of our Industrial Attachment at the end of 2008.

First and foremost, Syukur alhamdulillah to the great almighty Allah S.W.T. for our answered prayers over the years that led to us where we are now,

Greatest thanks to our parents, to mum and dad for all their support from the very beginning till this very day,

Special thanks to all our tutors of The Business School, for all their teachings, guidance and advices. We wouldn't be who we are now without them.
  • to Ms Nur Sham, one of the greatest teachers I've ever known, your teachings and advice will be with us for many years.
  • to Ms Eton, you have given us so much opportunities for the best of us.
  • to mr cool Sir Fadzil, keep rockin! (hehehe)
  • to Sir Iswandi, so many useful insights you have shared, very much appreciated
  • to Ms Nelia, who never gave up giving us the motivation to strive towards success in our education
  • to Ms Zaiton for all the wiseful advice and generous support to make us a better person we are now
  • to Sir Saiful, for all the help, internal and externally
  • to Mr Masaaki for the statistics (sorry I've been a bad boy in class)

  • to Ms Shikin, our group coordinator (ND/12)
  • to Ms Susi, who believed in all of us

to all my classmates of ND/BNF/12, who we've spent 2 years together in that one classroom,

  • Ain and Fizzy, the ones who I could always count on the most
  • Rena, for leading us through our success and survival

to all my juniors after me, getting to know you all has been a delightful experience,

and to all my friends who i've known externally throughout my time in the Business School, thank you ever so much for everything!

Farewell Business School, till we meet again.

The Business School Consultation Week For The Intake of 2009

My, how the campus has changed...

It's that time of the year again as The Business School organizes the consultation session for interested applicants for the 2009 intake. The programme was held yesterday and will continue tomorrow. So for those interested to apply, do come to The Business School in Gadong anytime of the day tomorrow. I'm sure most of you know where our school is located by now. I mean, back in the day when I started the course, not many actually knew where 'The Business School' was and I had to draw a map for them when enquired.

So for anyone particularly the students who have just completed their O levels are interested to further their studies through the diploma courses in Business & Finance as well as Secretarial Studies, now's your chance. Bring your results and head over to our campus tomorrow. Don't worry, the tutors won't bite. Hehehe.

Cikgu Fadzillah and Cikgu Ummi giving a consultation to an interested applicant.

This is where it all began, exactly where I started 4 years ago (July 2005 intake).

And if you do drop by tomorrow, you'll get a glimpse of the seniors (my juniors) conducting their Business Project activities. Just a preview of what the courses have to offer and what you'll be doing at the peak of your course. The Business Project has been a tradition ever since and we've all gone through it, experiencing the excitement and the hardship of operating a business in groups.

.... suddenly I miss Aura.

DST Carnival, Launch Day

Sorry I didn't take too many pictures from the DST Carnival today. I wasn't really feeling inspired much. I dunno why, maybe its the depressing weather. LOL. Hopefully I'll return to the carnival this sunday and take more shots. Anyway, if you guys haven't been there, go check it out tomorrow. Two words; cheap laptops! Hehe.

Met my juniors on my way up. They were screaming my name so loud people could hear them. Mmmkayyy...

I never catch up with P2F coz I don't watch TV, but I heard the show's big this time around.

How appropriate...

My Fellow Juniors

...because I won't be seeing them again next year after graduation. Sigh, sometimes I miss how it feels like to be a junior in my early years in The Business School. Well that time is already over. Its time to move on, just as my seniors have before me.

Surprising Izzat

He really didn't see it coming. My juniors and I ambushed their class when the birthday boy was in the middle of their HRM job interview activity this afternoon, with a cake and a birthday song. Happy 21st Birthday to Izzat. Wish you all the success and happiness in all the years to come. And keep it up with the band. Keep on rockin!

Havoc Photo Sale, Day 1

Warning: Images may be too blue for your monitor. Adjust at your own risk.

The photos are finally up for sale! Yesterday was merely booking day for our juniors interested to purchase their photos we took on the previous Business School function a week ago. Big thanks to Kevin of Ex-Zone for lending us their incubator for our display station. Not bad for the first day, the response has been very good. We've received very positive feedback on the number of bookings we've garnered throughout the day.

Took me a while to draw that

All photos will be printed in standard 5R size and will be sold at $2.00 per piece. Bookings are still on-going, which will carry on for every Saturday of the week. The first batch is now in their printing process at a renowned printing studio and will be available for collection next Saturday 1st of November (the only day of the week which we are available due to our attachment on weekdays). Those who have missed yesterday's booking list may proceed on collection day.

Marriz holding a printed sample

Most of the juniors stormed our station in Incubator 3 yesterday to have a glance at their photos displayed on our laptops. Bookings were made by filling up special forms indicating their details and the image numbering. We were at first hesitant about crowd control but yesterday went pretty well than expected. See you all again next Saturday.

This is what happens if portrait-oriented images aren't adjusted on the monitor

Macam boss... hehehe

The one and only Cybercanon

Here's an interesting fact. Incubator 3 used to be a classroom for ND/BNF/07, which was Sai's group. Sai and his colleagues used to be in this incubator throughout their first year from mid 2005 until 2006 before their first industrial attachment. My PD/BNF/02 class with Cybercanon was just next door at that time when Business School was a lot smaller. So many fond memories when we were there yesterday.

Somebody needs a break...

ND/BNF/17: Open Class

What a great Saturday. Free food! *LoL* My juniors held an open class throughout the day yesterday. We used to do this before during our time, and now it has become a tradition for every classes to organize an open class during the festive season. Yesterday was the ND/BNF/17's turn. I kept coming in and out to try out different food served on the table. In the end, I got 'caked'! More pictures here, here and here.
