Baby Zaara Celebrates Her 2nd Birthday at McDonald's

Hiatus is over. It didn't really take me that long to complete all my work at the office, and I've managed to return to blogging again before the weekend. Thank god everything's done. Anyway, I was invited by my friend Milla to celebrate her niece's birthday at McDonald's Gadong last Wednesday evening to photo-shoot the birthday girl who just turned 2 on that day. Isn't she an adorable little thing? Took a while to get a good shot of her though. Kids. Hehe.

Return To Blue Eden

After a month of renovation, Blue Eden re-opened its doors a few weeks back. But only last night I got to visit the newly-furnished photographers sanctuary in Kiulap after a day at the DST Carnival. It's much more spacious now, and the interior works are fab. It's nice to be back again, to a place where everybody knows my name. Oh, and Sunday's the perfect time for BFF Photographers to be there.

London Kebab For Sungkai

Nyanyat! That's the exact word I would describe after trying out London Kebab at Lambak Kiri. I know, London Kebab has been around in Brunei for over 10 years now and has several establishments all around Brunei as far as I know. After years of just passing by along the Lambak Kiri road, I've finally tried the place for the first time last Tuesday along with my friends. Earlier this evening was my 3rd (technically because I had a takeaway lamb kebab late last night for sahur *LoL*).

There's a history about London Kebab that's quite fascinating. The owner got the idea from UK while he was studying there a decade ago. He followed the concept and started London Kebab here in Brunei and the response have been very positive. I gotta say, the kebabs that I ordered last Tuesday were unlike any other kebab joints I've tried in town over the years. For $4.90, I could get the incredible Lamb Kebab that'll surely get me full. Pure satisfaction!

Dengan penuh kusyuk...

So earlier this evening, Sai and I went to London Kebab in Lambak Kiri for our sungkai. This time, I tried a different dish. Word has it that its Fish n Chips are excellent so I gave that a shot. Ezam came a few minutes after Sungkai and joined us.

This was exactly what we all came here for

Pure western style Fish n Chips, now that's what I'm talkin about!

A nice beverage we bought all the way from Easy Way Serusop

The countdown

Another excellent Sungkai today. I'm rating London Kebab a 4 out of 5 stars for its excellent dishes and its nifty outdoor environment. I absolutely love dining outdoors. However, they could use more tables. I'm totally coming back here again for a nice Lamb Kebab. Oh yeah, the Fish n Chip I had earlier this evening? Awesome!

Is it just me or don't they look so adorable doing the exact same thing together? *LoL*

Football Night With The Havoc Bloggers

Saturday night's spent watching Liverpool vs Manchester United with my fellow Havoc Bloggers Marriz and Cybercanon at Coffeezone Kiulap, along with colleagues Achong, Ain and Muiz. Liverpool won, and I'm happy. I'm not exactly a football fan, but I'm just happy.

These guys sure weren't happy, maklumlah Man U fans. Look at the demon in their faces! Bwahaha!

Sungkai With The BFF Photogs

Ahh, Blue Eden. Where everybody knows your name. The photographers' turf. The Brunei Forever Forum photogs hang out here every week, usually for lunch, supper, casual meetings, watch football on the widescreen telly or just simply to chill. For this month of Ramadhan, we had our sungkai together at Blue Eden. This was last Friday, right after our big outing at the Gerai Ramadhan in Gadong.

By the way, Blue Eden is currently serving its very own Sungkai set for an affordable price of $5.50. Visit the website for more details.

Sungkai at Goldiana, Macam Macam Ada

Finally a real sungkai buffet! I had my sungkai with my cousins Aman and Halim yesterday at Orchid Garden Hotel after I returned back from KB. For years, Goldiana Cafe serves one of the best Sungkai Buffet in town. For $20.80 nett, you could get a variety of dish you could crave for, and there's no shortage of food. Just make sure you try everything to justify what you've paid for, if you got the stomach for it. I know Halim did. *LoL*

The view from my table

One need not be hasty when breaking the fast at Goldiana Cafe. A couple of years back I took a lot from the main course and eventually got myself full without the chance of trying the other delicious-looking side dishes. Well I've learned my lesson and this time I took only a small portion from each servings on the main course (eliminating the rice) and set aside another plate for several portions from the side dishes. Unfortunately, I got full to even got the chance to try the Murtabak and Ambuyat stations. Oh well, at least I had Dim Sum (and lots of it).

My main course; buttered noodles and everything else on the side

My side dish, Dim Sum Attack!

Halim savouring his 4th round while Aman's chimping on a dSLR (kanyang udah kali)

And for desert...

"Wui, lakas tah, kan balik ni..."

We got so kanyang on our way back, and I was lying at the backseat of Aman's car. Ayung yo, macam high! *LoL*

Lunch Hour

The only closest place we could go to is the GIANT supermarket in Rimba. It's just a 2 minute drive from Armada Properties. We really can't afford to go all the way to Gadong because of time constraints as we were only given an hour and 15 minutes lunch break. By the time we finished eating, we've got only 20 minutes free time. That's really tight.

But GIANT is a really great place to have lunch. What's not to like? There are an abundance of restaurants we could try out, and the foodcourt is affordable with a variety of dishes to choose from. I highly recommend the others to visit us here during lunchtime, I mean to those with more than enough time to drop by to GIANT rather than meeting up at the Mall. C'mon guys, that place sucks!

So far its just me and Rena today, because Ain had her lunch at home (her place is just close by anyway). But we do get Dash and Milla around, and we're expecting more.

A New Cafe In Town

I bet you all are wondering where you could actually get that tasty Nasi Lemak dish I posted earlier. You can simply visit Simply Shaz Cafe & Restaurant downtown, located at the Kianggeh Foodstall by the Brunei River. It's a new cafe and they serve one of the best varieties of Nasi Lemak around. The place is really lovely at night too.

Simply Shaz Serves Excellent Nasi Lemak

Nasi katok is so over-rated, not to mention unhealthy. Nasi Lemak on the other hand tastes way better, especially when served adequately with a combination of eggs, nuts and cucumber. If you wanna capture the true Nasi Lemak experience under the stars, drop by to Simply Shaz at the Kianggeh Food Stall in the capital. The tasty Pari Sambal makes a great side order too. All these for very reasonable prices.

Cappuccino Evening

This is Au Lait, a nifty cafeteria conveniently located just on the ground floor of the Seri Q-lap mall. A great place to hang out while waiting for the movies to play. I ordered a nice cup of cappuccino there while waiting for the 8.40pm show to start (we were about to watch 'Get Smart') and it was served with a rather delightful touch.

The Best Customer Service In Town

Nothing like a good dinner at Le' Stadium Restaurant while watching the Euro match on the flatscreen mounted on the wall could ruin my evening. The place was cozy, the sporty concept was really neat and the lasagna I ordered was fantastic.

But what really impressed me that night at Le' Stadium Restaurant was the service with the smile and the friendliness of the waiters. Its pretty rare to find good service in diners these days. I think I know where I'll be having my lunch by the time I work in Armada Properties.

So to my fellow juniors, remember that customer service is very VERY important. First impressions make lasting impressions. See ya'll at the top!
