One More Week

Summer blockbusters are finally here. After a good dosage of Terminator Salvation and Angels and Demons, this is the next big flick to watch this month. It's gonna be sleek cars, giant robots and loud explosions all over again.

To Infinity And Beyond

Oh joy! I grew up watching this movie, and they're finally bringing them back for a third.

Dum-Dum, Dum, Dum-Dum!

Guess who's back? Catch tonight's screening and find out for yourselves.

The movie Terminator fans have all been waiting for has finally arrived in our local theaters. Despite all the mixed reviews by movie critics across the internet, I personally loved Terminator Salvation (and I was pretty sure everyone in the cinema had a great time last night). Packed with non-stop adrenaline action and full of surprises enough to entertain even non-die hard fans (the iconic T-800 is one bad-ass!), this movie ought to be watched on the big screen, the way it should be experienced. I'm not gonna spoil the movie further, just go get the best seats, buy a popcorn and enjoy!

Suddenly it's 1984 all over again. I'm being nostalgic.

Currently Listening To...

The soundtrack is already out, and their video is also on its way. An excellent tune to get you pumped up on your way to the theatres next month. Talk about psyched. In the meantime, where on earth is Terminator Salvation???

Salvation

Excited? It'll be out next week.

I'm So Excited And I Just Can't Hide it

Attention Transformers fans. The official theatrical trailer for the upcoming Revenge of The Fallen has finally been released yesterday, and it looks like it's gonna be a huge one this summer. Damn, I can't hardly wait. Hurry up June 24th!

Press the HD button to view this trailer in high-definition. It's 'mind-blasting'!

Be Silent

From the creators of Jangan Pandang Belakang, this movie will make you scream a lot. Here's a tip: bring your own blanket to the theatres. The intro is already too freaky to watch.

The Big Three

Better save up now. Summer flicks are gonna be huge once again this year so there's gonna be a lot of going to the movies starting next month. I can't wait for the big three. And then there's Angels & Demons, Star Trek and the next Harry Potter which are also worth to watch. So that's 6 movies, that's 50 dollars (including the popcorn) I have to save...

... I need a job.

Anticipating T4

Suddenly, May 21st seems like taking a long long to arrive. As everyone's excited about the Transformers sequel this summer, I'm heavily anticipating this film. A third new trailer has been released and my god it looks wicked-awesome:

Es Lebe Unser Heiliges Deutschland

I would've enjoyed being at the movies this month of February if Friday The 13th is played here. We're only left with below average flicks that has been given bad reviews by the critics. And I'm still waiting for The Curious Case of Benjamin Button! It's really been a slow time in theatres in our nation, and I've been wondering why.

But there's one under-hyped movie being shown in the cineplex, and due to my huge fascination in World War II history, I went to the local theatres for a late night show to watch Valkyrie. This film deserves a praise and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for something worthwhile. It's been a long time since I've watched really good war flicks. Back in the days there were an abundance of them, e.g. Saving Private Ryan, We Were Soldiers, Black Hawk Down and Pearl Harbor were some of the best.

Valkyrie is based on a true story which depicts the July 20, 1944 plot by German army officers to assassinate Adolf Hitler and to use the national emergency plan called Operation Valkyrie to take control of the country. It stars Tom Cruise as Colonel Claus von Stauffenberg. Hitler fans rejoice; The Führer is in this movie too, albeit only in brief scenes, but still powerful enough to give you the spine-tingling. I would give this movie an A- for its accuracy to the history of the German resistance. Everything just seems authentic.

Happy Friday The 13th

And there are still those unaware of this remake ever released today. Unfortunately, this movie's not playing in our local theatres today and throughout the month. Bummer. Maybe I'll watch it in KL next week.

Guess What Movie This Is From

Her name's Sabrina, also known to her friends and on the internet as Sabby Wabby. She's an aspiring young photographer and blogger, as well as a member of the Brunei Forever elite. Being young doesn't stop her from joining us in our photo-shoot outing, particularly in the recent Chinese New Year morning outing on the 26th. Such full of youth made into good use, and I've got 4 more wild and crazy years before I hit 30. Sigh... uhhh, anyway, do visit her blog and say hi to her.

And no, this is not from a movie. It's something I've been experimenting on; turning images I shot into cinematics. Kinda look like straight out of an indon chick flick eh? Well if I had you all convinced in the first place, then my experiment is a success. *LOL*

Gadgets of 2009

All the way from the recent Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, here's what to expect for 2009 for all you gadget hobbyists and qqestore.com fans out there. Source: pcworld.com

Next-Generation Pocket Camcorders

Looks like the next trend after dSLRs and compact cameras would be Hi Def video camcorders, all over again. And this time they'll be pocket-sized. Ditch those digital cameras and start shooting videos in 2009 with the Kodak HD Zx1.

Internet TV

Cable TV is dead and digital broadcasting will be mainstream. Every television set on earth will have access to the internet, so you no longer just rely on computers or your cellphone to surf the web or stream movies, thanks to the support of Yahoo! widgets built in your flat screen TV.

Video Phone

You've seen them in movies for years. Now you can have them in your living room and video conference with your friends like in -insert your favorite sci-fi movie here- with this beauty by iRiver. And yes, that's a touch-screen interface, designed by the same guy who created the touch-screen on the iPhone.

3D Goggles (No wait, its gonna be a better one this time!)

Everyone wants to be in 3D land. They've attempted Virtual Goggles back in the 90's but over years it turned out 3D games with ultra-realistic graphics on a flat screen monitor is far more awesome. Well now you can immerse yourself in those 3D games with ultra-realistic graphics with this new and improved 3D goggles we've always dreamed of. Designed by Nvidia, your most trusted graphics card manufacturer.

Palm Pre with Web OS

Palm is back, and this gadget is unlike any other. You turn this thing on and boom, you're on the internet. The entire screen is a web application. In other words, the internet is in the palm of your hands. The first of its kind in the history of smart phones. Isn't that cool? Or do I start sounding like Steve Jobs now?

My Verdict

So I was told that the original is far way better and scarier than the remake. Although to some extent I do agree. Hollywood has been known to butcher Asian horror flicks for the past few years its no wonder people just do not trust Americanized remakes anymore. But in the case of Quarantine, which is a carbon copy of Spanish film [Rec], the film has proven otherwise. I've watched both and here's my verdict. If you've watched the original, it is no doubt a scary film (bought the DVD last night). In my case, I've watched the remake first last week and I did enjoyed it very much. In my opinion, I find Quarantine a lot darker and that more thrills and surprises were added in. Both movies are awesome and its good to watch both, but as I said earlier, there's really nothing wrong to watch Quarantine first. So what are you waiting for, go book those tickets!

Quarantine

Have you watched this movie yet? This is one horror flick not to be missed. By the time you arrive at the ticket counter, you'll be warned about how freakin scary the film is. Despite what some people claimed that the original 2007 Spanish version of this movie called [REC] was much better, I had the most intense time watching Quarantine in theaters last weekend. For sure, I'm gonna hunt down the Spanish version, but Quarantine is enough to give you a major spine-tingling.

The Monday Blues

Like every other people on this planet, I've been experiencing another dose of the Monday Blues yesterday. A huge pile of work to be completed in a week time, the terrible weather, and I wasn't even feeling well throughout the day yesterday (sore throat). Nevertheless, I've found the remedy for all that; I went jamming with the boys after work to clear my head off.

I guess I'll be very busy this week (work and personal errands), so expect some minor lack of updates. In fact, my camera deserves a little break. Well, I gotta get back to work. In the meantime, enjoy this theatrical trailer. Something I'm really anticipated to watch in theaters next month.

Robots with Emotions

Love is in the air when a Waste Allocation Load Lifter Earth-Class meets an Extraterrestrial Vegetation Evaluator

Watched Wall-E last night. I know this movie has been playing months ago but I never got the chance to watch it because I've been too busy to go to theaters after The Dark Knight. I knew that it's a great movie and so last night was really worth it. I love the story, very imaginative yet simple and straightforward, and its really nice to see robotic characters convey human emotions. ^_^

Bernie Mac Dies

Hollywood actor and comedian Bernie Mac died yesterday at the age of 50. He was hospitalized with pneumonia more than a week ago in Chicago and had been in a highly critical condition before he succumbed to his illness.

"When I got the call this morning, it was just devastating news. Let's face it: Bernie Mac was one of a kind. He was the best of the best in terms of giving you a good laugh." - Stella Foster, Chicago-Sun Times columnist.

Mac's film roles included the "Ocean's Eleven" series, "Friday," "Guess Who," "Mr 3000", "Get on the Bus," "Transformers" and "Bad Santa."

"The driver don't pick the car... the car picks the driver." One of the best remembered lines by the late Bernie Mac.

Summer Flick Burn Out

At first I thought I'd put the title to this post as 'too much butter on my popcorn' but it just sounded cheesy. Haha. Well, I've been watching too much action movies this year. I guess it's time for me to take a break from all that and settle down with some really nice romantic / feel-good movies for a change. Of course, I prefer watching them in the comfort of my room. No point watching romantic movies without a date eh.

Lately I was watching P.S. I Love You on my computer. Okay, so I missed it in theaters many months ago. I know most of you have watched this already when it came out. I really liked the plot and I think that Gerard Butler is a fantastic actor. P.S. I Love You may have received lukewarm reviews from film critics when it was first released but I personally enjoyed it from the start. Its downright hilarious, and sad at some point. Overall, a good choice for your DVD shelf.

And this one's not bad either, and I've been meaning to watch Definitely, Maybe twice. Brilliant performance by little Abigail Breslin, and what's not to like about Ryan Reynolds? Again, missed its theatrical release last February and I only got to watch it pretty recently after getting the DVD. Definitely, a good buy.

What I've yet to watch is Ayat-Ayat Cinta, an indonesian romantic film that's now currently playing at the Empire Theater. I've heard a lot of praise on this movie by critics and bloggers. But in actuality Ayat-Ayat Cinta has been around since last February (released June in Malaysia). The soundtrack's pretty good too. Should I head over to Empire or watch the DVD?

Yes, that's Rianti Cartwright behind the veil, and yes she has strikingly beautiful eyes, both in this movie and in real life.
