BRIDEX 2009 Conference Today

This is a great week for Brunei this year as the highly anticipated BRIDEX Conference 2009 kicks off today. I'll be covering for the afternoon session. This international event is perhaps the biggest the nation has ever held, organized in a large scale. It's gonna be a long exciting day for journalists.

BCG's Rockband Tournament

The Brunei Cybergames Tournament is back, and kick-starts the new year of 2009 with a dose of next generation gaming hits e.g. Pro Evolution Soccer, Call of Duty and Rockband. My brother formed an allegiance with his friends and signed up to compete in the Rockband tournament today. Check out his blog for more details.

Rano seems occupied

Consumer Fair, Day 2

There sure was a lot of people in ICC on a Friday. I met some familiar faces too along the way. Oh, and the other section of the Consumer Fair (east wing) sure smelled great. They've got free food samples!

Consumer Fair Part 3 @ ICC

Today's the launching of the 3rd Consumer Fair held at the International Convention Centre, as well as another round of the Brunei Cybergames Tournament hosted by Ranoadidas. Being jobless that I am, I popped by to ICC with my camera in the nick of time when the launching ceremony was held this afternoon. The guest of honour to commemorate the launch was Pehin Dani, the Deputy Minister of Home Affairs.

I'm gonna be here again tomorrow. My brother's gonna be playing Rockband with his friends. It's been many months since the last time he entered the Cybergames tournament and I do hope he wins again.

The Nikon Roadshow at Hua Ho Manggis Mall

Mr Kavid (Nikon Malaysia) talking about all things Nikon

Thank goodness I've finished work early this afternoon to make it in time for the Nikon talk and roadshow at Hua Ho Manggis Mall. Apparently Hua Ho invited representatives from Nikon Malaysia to conduct a short introductory talk about the Nikon brand. Hmmm, is Hua Ho a dedicated fan of Nikon?? Anyway, it was a one hour talk mostly on the basics, pretty much everything I already know, but I've managed to inquire regarding after-sales services, particularly in the event of a dead shutter release. But one question still remains and left unanswered; when are we gonna have our own Nikon Service Centre in Brunei??? Will somebody please bring it down here already!

But the real highlight is what's on display at the ground floor of Manggis Mall. Yes, the mighty D3 is being showcased and for the first time in my life I got to try it out and get the feel of its super-ergonomic grip. All I can say is WOW! Price tag? B$6xxx. *gulp* If I got one of these at home I'd probably be taking photography full time for the rest of my life.

Holding the D3 is like a dream

The P6000 also happens to be a fine digital compact camera, and its the latest from Nikon. Highly durable with the built of an SLR body, but lightweight and convenient, perfect as a second body. There's a hot-shoe mount on its top for an external Nikon flash that could fit even the giant SB-900! If I'd ever planned on getting a compact digital camera sometime in the future, I would consider this one.

The next top Nikon model perhaps?

Where The Best Deals Are

Another day at the mall, another IT fair at the ground floor lobby. It was only a decade ago when IT expos and fairs used to be so exciting and highly anticipated for, but now it just feels like I've seen one too many, which made it far less exciting anymore. And yet I do not see much difference at all except the fact that personal computers nowadays have become more and more affordable than it used to be, so its really good for consumers in Brunei.

Spotted a Friend

This is exactly what I love about having off days on Saturdays; the ability to see my other friends working on Saturdays. *LoL* Here's one I spotted earlier this afternoon at the Telbru booth at The Mall, Gadong. It's my classmate Nana, and she's attached in Telbru, currently assigned to look after the booth. Super senior Khai is also attached there (he's the one standing in the picture above).

Telbru's latest offers. Check out that attractive rate for Worldfon!

Meanwhile...

Spotted another friend having lunch at McDonald's with *ehem*ehem*... ^_^
