The Business School Consultation Week For The Intake of 2009

My, how the campus has changed...
It's that time of the year again as The Business School organizes the consultation session for interested applicants for the 2009 intake. The programme was held yesterday and will continue tomorrow. So for those interested to apply, do come to The Business School in Gadong anytime of the day tomorrow. I'm sure most of you know where our school is located by now. I mean, back in the day when I started the course, not many actually knew where 'The Business School' was and I had to draw a map for them when enquired.

So for anyone particularly the students who have just completed their O levels are interested to further their studies through the diploma courses in Business & Finance as well as Secretarial Studies, now's your chance. Bring your results and head over to our campus tomorrow. Don't worry, the tutors won't bite. Hehehe.

Just a preview of what the courses have to offer and what you'll be doing at the peak of your course. The Business Project has been a tradition ever since and we've all gone through it, experiencing the excitement and the hardship of operating a business in groups.

Havoc Photo Sale, Day 1

The photos are finally up for sale! Yesterday was merely booking day for our juniors interested to purchase their photos we took on the previous Business School function a week ago. Big thanks to Kevin of Ex-Zone for lending us their incubator for our display station. Not bad for the first day, the response has been very good. We've received very positive feedback on the number of bookings we've garnered throughout the day.

All photos will be printed in standard 5R size and will be sold at $2.00 per piece. Bookings are still on-going, which will carry on for every Saturday of the week. The first batch is now in their printing process at a renowned printing studio and will be available for collection next Saturday 1st of November (the only day of the week which we are available due to our attachment on weekdays). Those who have missed yesterday's booking list may proceed on collection day.

Most of the juniors stormed our station in Incubator 3 yesterday to have a glance at their photos displayed on our laptops. Bookings were made by filling up special forms indicating their details and the image numbering. We were at first hesitant about crowd control but yesterday went pretty well than expected. See you all again next Saturday.

The one and only Cybercanon

Here's an interesting fact. Incubator 3 used to be a classroom for ND/BNF/07, which was Sai's group. Sai and his colleagues used to be in this incubator throughout their first year from mid 2005 until 2006 before their first industrial attachment. My PD/BNF/02 class with Cybercanon was just next door at that time when Business School was a lot smaller. So many fond memories when we were there yesterday.

The Band Preparation For The Business School Raya Function '08

It's that time of the year. The Business School will be celebrating its 4th Hari Raya Aidilfitri / Teachers Day Celebration event this Sunday 19th at the Multi-Purpose Hall of Hua Ho Manggis, organized by my juniors who are currently in their 2nd year and doing their Business Project activities. And yes, like every other year, there will be a band, lead by Sir Fadzil.

Actually, I wanted to just take a break from being involved in anything for this year's function because I've done so much for 3 years since my PD days. But in the end, they decided to include me in the band in one or two of the performances for the night. Well, it's really been a long time since I last set foot on stage so I thought I needed to brush up on things. Hmm, it totally feels different without Sai and Kamal this time around. Izzat and I are the last survivors of the Business School band. But now we have entirely new faces, and I've to say, they're really talented juniors.


I met Sir Fadzil last week at Ms Siti's family open house and he asked me to give a one last show. At first I hesitated because I just wanna give the juniors a chance to take over the stage rather than myself who has been there many times already. I believe there are far better talented juniors in campus that deserve the spot. But then, I considered this a privilege and give it a go, for one last song.


I'm not gonna disclose the songs that we're all gonna play. I'll just leave that to the committee. I'm only doing my part. Besides, I also have other things to worry about. Havoc Bloggers will be the official photographers for the function so I've to set my gears ready for the big night. Wah, busy busy busy. I still can't believe that I actually put myself in this busy situation again, but then I'm kinda used to it. After all, I'm always the busiest guy in school all this years, especially during functions.

Preparations for the band performances have already started and currently on-going. They're really working hard to make a grand performance on the 19th. Let's hope that we could pull off the best show for the night. Only 6 more days to go.

Memory Lane: The Business School Gerai Ramadhan 07

2007 was a great year for us. When we did our Business Project in our 2nd year, we believed that working in unity encouraged great results. One of the best moments was the Gerai Ramadhan which we set up in the parking lot of Bandar Seri Begawan (opposite Sheraton and the Royal Regalia building). It was the first Gerai Ramadhan to be organized as part of our Business Project assessment, and we're glad to be the first intake to give this a shot. We worked together under one tent to make it all possible.


Of course a lot of preparations were made beforehand. We had to skip a couple of classes (particularly our statistics *LoL*) for our medical check-up, the usual standard procedure. Preparations prior to the first day of our operation was the most hectic, but we're able to accomplish whatever needed to be done in time. At first we were reluctant to sell in BSB, knowing the fact that the Stadium has far more customers and a stronger sales potential (the secretarials got the spot instead), but then with a little help from marketing (we've made banners, flyers and spread the news on the internet) we're able to solve that problem.

We sold a lot of stuff throughout the month. My company specialized in Pizzas ($1 a piece), while the rest focused on the pari and the fishes which became a hit. Others relied on a variety of consignment goods as well as home-made drinks. We realized that we're able to garner a lot of profit from drinks alone.


With the supervision of Ms Halimahtun (she encouraged us to sell for Gerai Ramadhan in the first place) and assistance from Dazian Enterprise, we've made it all possible. In the end, we've managed to gain some projit, and at the same time gained the experience and knowledge which became beneficial for all of us involved in this project. The most priceless would be the fondest memories of our time together during the month of Ramadhan. I will always remember the times we've shared under one tent, and I never regret it. Gerai Ramadhan 2007 was a huge success for us and it's good to know that it has become a tradition as our juniors are currently selling at the stadium.
