A Treat of Sushi For Lunch

I love Japanese cuisine, particularly Sushi. Yesterday, Rena, Eyan and I were invited by our language tutor Ms Nur Sham for lunch at Kaizen Sushi along with other tutors Ms Sinda, Ms Siti and Ms Precy.

Kaizen Sushi is located in Kiulap, somewhere close to Baiduri Bank and Kern Cafe. The dishes we've ordered were fantabulous and by looking at the prices on the menu, its not really that steep. The environment isn't all that bad either. I'm definitely gonna come back here again someday for another round of sushi.

Afternoon Tea in Wazzie's Kitchen

Another successful portraiture I've made this week. This time, the lucky model is my good ol friend Wazzie. This was taken yesterday in her kitchen when we were having our afternoon tea at her crib. Did I ever mentioned she baked the best brownies as well? Nantitah mengambar lagi.

Taking a Break from MOH Survey

I'm currently taking a break from conducting surveys for the time being because I've got an interview tomorrow at Armada Properties for my Industrial Attachment. So I'm putting away my survey file and get myself prepared for tomorrow. I need to print my CV and get all my certificates ready. Hopefully I'll get through it. This is gonna be exciting indeed.

I'll be back at the Ong Sum Ping Health Centre after the interview. Things have been going pretty slow lately, but at least I've managed to clear off 50 survey forms. It's not much but that's an effort for a one man mission. But really, Ong Sum Ping sure is quiet this week.

Some of the guys are having a great time in KK, and I'm grounded here. Can't say I'm able to travel that easily in my current financial situation right now, but hopefully I'll get to fly again when I can finally afford it. Sigh, I really miss Singapore.

SOAS College Revisited

Technically, I've already blogged about reminiscing my old college months ago (click here to read my previous post), but since I got my dSLR with me I couldn't resist popping by to SOAS College to grab a few snaps. One of the reasons why I wanna pay my old college a visit was because I considered this as part of my dSLR training, particularly on fixing the 'barrel distortion' issue. Ya gotta have to get out there and shoot if you wanna learn and improve on photography skills.

I started studying in SOAS College in 1996 and ended my education there in 2001. SOAS College is an all boys college and was the first English college established in Brunei. It celebrated its Golden Jubilee in 2002.

This was where I've met a lot of great guys I've known until now; Syaf (still a gamer), Zeeko (military man), Hadijoh (sama-sama jiwang rock), Marali (masih maintain yo), Helmy (currently studying overseas for his degree) and Hj Khairul (teacher) are among those guys. Most of my ex-colleagues are now having their own lives, good career, a few already got married, etc.

It's been 8 years since I left SOAS College. So many fond memories left behind, and I've managed to capture those memories. And so, without further adeu, I'd like to share with you all; me walking down memory lane.




This was where it all began. My form 1C class is just 1 room next to the stairs.


My form 2 classroom was just past this hallway. I remembered everyone on this block called me 'BASIKAL' after winning a bike for being the highest fundraiser for the college in 1996. And then there was 'KABAB'. Couldn't recall how that started.




My form 3 class was just up ahead.


One of the senior teachers actually recognized me as I walked around the campus yesterday. He called me an 'Anak SOAS'. I was really proud of hearing that.


Throughout form 1 - 3, I got this great view of the track and field and grandstand from my block. The best times were when the STPRIans borrowed our grandstand. Can you imagine the ruckus?

Up ahead used to be our only computer lab. Now its the registrar office.

I used to hate walking through this hallway. It lead straight to my least favorite subject; Physics. Wonder what happened to Mr Simpson? (Yes, there was a Mr 'Simpson' teaching Physics in SOAS)

I read the papers and sat here with my other bookworm friends every chance I got.

Found this cat in an apparel shop just next to Blue Eden. At first I thought it was a doll until I realized it was moving. It usually sits near the glass window and grabs a lot of attention, particularly to patrons of BE.

Compacts Not Dead

Even carrying a dSLR around 24-7 can be a burden. It's true. There are times when you need compacts for certain tight shots, or at times when you prefer to go light in your travels. Of course, your best compact camera should be your perfect dSLR sidekick, not a major downgrade.

Oooh ~ Someone just got a Sony T200, and I bet she's havin a great time with her new toy this week in her office.

I still got my Sony Ericsson K750i which is in crappy condition now but still works. I don't really need a new compact at the time being since my Nikon D80 is still 2 weeks old. To put matters worse, I find handling and controlling a compact now a complication.

But for those who are not into lugging heavy gear and prefer carrying light, compact cameras make very good casual shooting. In addition, unlike dSLRs, compact cameras won't break your bank. There are a wide range to choose from and they just keep getting better and better. To name a few; Sony, canon, Nikon, Panasonic, Samsung, Casio, Olympus, Fujifilm and Pentax manufactured excellent compacts over the years.

Sunday, 25th May. I attended a family function yesterday at my grandparents in Kg Lumut. My youngest brother, having already circumcised last year along with the rest of my little cousins his age, participated in this ceremony organized by my grandfather.
