Memories of 2008

New year's on the horizon, and before we embark on the new year of 2009, I wish to share with you some of my fond memories that I've been through throughout the year 2008. (Pictures not in chronological order). Memories of the past are best treasured and shared as we all make new wonderful memories today, tomorrow and for the rest of time.

Attachment Ends Today

Today's the last day of work, and its a farewell day for us to the company. 6 months being attached in Armada Properties sure felt like 3 years. Lots of opportunities, knowledge and experience gained, and not forgetting the things of which I have contributed to the company. I'm sure gonna miss the place.

Goodbye Armada! Till we meet again. Graduation, here we come!

Gone Without a Trace

Apologies for the lack of updates. A tragedy has occurred. My 300 GB hard disk is corrupted and all my data; my work, my photos, videos, music, etc are all gone without a trace! I have no idea how this happened, probably a virus / trojan attack.

What a way to end the wonderful year of 2008. well I guess I'll start my new year with an empty hard disk, a fresh new beginning. Though I'm still upset because I'm talking about 250GB worth of data lost here. Sigh...

The Night Pre-Wed

Special thanks to Zadm for inviting me to tag along with him on his pre-wedding photo-shoot for his clients last night. It was an opportunity to be able to volunteer, observe and participate in his project in order for me to learn more about photo-shooting pre-weds. Last night was even more of a challenge as his clients requested it to be done at night in Jerudong Park from the playground all the way to the garden with the colorful fountain.

After last night's experience, I find pre-wed photo-shoot quite a chore, what with all the gears and equipment that needed to be carried around from one point to another in order to achieve a perfect lighting setup, but the satisfaction was indeed there after hours of photo-shoot, and I learned a lot from this tag-along with Zadm, a young local wedding photographer of 2 years experience in the field. I'm still new at this, and there's still so much more to learn...

Baby Zaara Celebrates Her 2nd Birthday at McDonald's

Hiatus is over. It didn't really take me that long to complete all my work at the office, and I've managed to return to blogging again before the weekend. Thank god everything's done. Anyway, I was invited by my friend Milla to celebrate her niece's birthday at McDonald's Gadong last Wednesday evening to photo-shoot the birthday girl who just turned 2 on that day. Isn't she an adorable little thing? Took a while to get a good shot of her though. Kids. Hehe.

End of Year Hiatus

I will be on hiatus for quite a while, meaning that I won't be updating for a few days, probably until this weekend due to the wrapping up of my industrial attachment. That's right, I've got work which needs to be finalized before I leave the company (last day's on the 31st) and my final attachment report to be completed (which is currently at 50% as I typed this... ugh). Not to worry though, this is just brief. I should be able to get everything done in no time. The end of the year sure is a busy one for me this year, unlike the time of the calm during the pre-Ramadhan and post-Aidilfitri days.

Not forgetting my fellow christian / catholic friends out there, whoever and wherever you are, I wish you all a Merry Christmas.

Color Correction

Original image. Too warm. Sucks.
Many months ago, at a time when I first got my SB-600 flash, I had my camera settings completely wrong. My white balance was not entirely correct, so most of my indoor shots turned out bad. They were left as stock photos in my hard drive, unattended and unedited. Thankfully, I've managed to get my way through all that now by fixing that problem with Photoshop. It took me a while to figure it out, but in the end I've been able to recover some photos that's still worth something. Why oh why didn't I think of this earlier? D'oh! Well, time to recover the old photos. Nevertheless, I should learn to compose straight from the camera correctly before shooting from now on.

Assign, And They'll Follow

One of the most craziest things you could do during wedding shoots is the unimaginable poses you could come up with to assign your group shots. I mean, look at it this way. Normal group shot poses are so, well, normal... (although still necessary), in every wedding photo albums, so I figured I'd have a little fun of my own and changed my approach. In fact, it does give out a more memorable touch when you bend the rules. after all, the wedding is the most enjoyable time for the family members and guest (the young ones especially) to be in group shots and they'd do anything to be in the picture, so the photographer is literally in command. Of course, there are a lot more creative ideas you could come up with and try out, as long as they're not in the most awkward positions, it's all good.

Deserted in December

Looks like almost everyone's been packin' up and headed north this holiday. Even Gadong looks deserted almost every time I went there, which is a good thing though because for the first time in many months its easier to find a parking spot in the area. I guess they're all after the big Year End Sale in Malaysia or somethin'. Even my supervisor took a week off.

As for me, I'm just finishing up my remaining days at my workplace. I know I can't get out of the country at this time as I've to wrap things up here and the fact that I've to start working on my final attachment report for the school. But all is good. I'll be getting out of here next year. I so can't wait to travel again. KL 2009, here I come!
