The BADR

The Pakistan Navy Ship BADR arrived in Brunei a couple of days ago and I got the opportunity to tour the battleship and meet the ship's crew. Interestingly enough, the BADR is named after the famous battle of BADR fought on the 15th of March 624 AD, at a place near Madinah. The BADR was commissioned in 1994 at Devonport, England and is the fourth type-21 frigate inducted in the Pakistan Navy. Fitten with Harpoon missiles, the ship is capable of engaging targets at stand off ranges, and its gas turbine propulsion makes it highly maneuverable platform that can attain top speed of 30 Knots from rest in just 60 seconds!

Those are real frickin' bullets.
